Join us on Friday, September 25th from 4 to 5 PM for another installment of Cambridge House’s Fireside Chat series, as host Dr. Jody Fleming leads her discussion entitled “From Oxford to Outpouring: Intellectualism, the Holy Spirit, and the Great Awakening”.
The worldwide Wesleyan and Pentecostal/charismatic movements have deep roots that go back 300 years to a prestigious institution, Oxford University in England. A group of students gathered as a Holy Club to study and live out the word of God. This small group found that they could hold their intellectual understandings alongside the supernatural power of God. What followed was an awakening to Christianity fueled by the Holy Spirit that stretched across the Atlantic Ocean. We will explore the influence of John Wesley and others credited for the beginning a faith tradition that continues to grow in all places across the globe.
